Rodin Museum: Auguste Rodin & Camille Claudel

An elegant 18th century mansion is the site of a priceless collection of sculpture by Auguste Rodin and Camille Claudel. Rodin, one of the founders of modern sculpture, and Claudel, a woman of genius, were teacher and student, contemporaries and great talents. Together they explored the force of naturalism in their emotional, expressive and sensitive works of art filled with a sense of power and anguish. Hear the poignant story of the life and art of Rodin and Camille Claudel!

Outside the mansion, amidst a gorgeous rose garden, you'll hear the story of Rodin's celebrated "Thinker," his "Balzac," and his masterpiece, "L'Inferno," filled with more than 200 figures! Time to wander through the elegant gardens, explore the museum and have lunch in the rose gardens. This afternoon, we'll visit the famous Palace of Versailles.

Palace of Versailles!

The name “Versailles” suggests visions of a brilliant hall filled with mirrors and chandeliers! Numerous galleries, salons, and royal apartments, all lavishly decorated and fitted with ornate furnishings occupy the interior of this splendid palace. The magnificent fountains, supplied by almost 100 miles of pipes, spray jets of water in a forceful dance. You will have an opportunity to hear commentary on Versailles’ history, and to explore the palace and grounds at your own pace. Save your feet--a people-moving tram is available! Take a ride in it to see the vast and beautiful property!

Visit the Queen’s quaint hamlet, consisting of the Queen’s House, the Billiard House, the Food-warming house, the Boudoir, the Mill, the Guard’s house, the Dovecote, Marlborough Tower and the Dairy! Or choose to sit at the garden café and watch the rowboats on the mile long Grand Canal.

"This trip has changed me and my life permanently!  It has been the most awe-inspiring eleven days I've ever experienced."
